Papers (1849-1911) of a Beaufort County, N.C. family, including correspondence, diary, financial records, poems, sheet music, invitation to weddings, dances and commencements. The majority of the collection is correspondence (1888-1911) addressed to the Tripp's daughter, Lida Tripp Parker. Earlier correspondence (1849-1882) mainly contains premarital love letters between William and Araminta, as well as letters discussing the Civil War. |

Biographical note | William H. Tripp and Araminta Guilford Tripp were married in 1853 and resided in Beaufort County, N.C. William H. Tripp was a House of Commons member (1850-1852) of the N.C. General Assembly and he served as captain of Co. B, 40th Regiment N.C. Troops (3rd Regiment N.C. Artillery) from September 30, 1861 until February 10, 1865. |
