Scope and content |
The majority consists of correspondence (1911-1947) centered around Mrs. Hoffman's interest in North Carolina at Bogue Banks. An extensive commentary is given on economic conditions in North Carolina in the early 20th century and the effects of World War II. Mrs. Hoffman's real estate interests ranged from beach property development in North Carolina to real estate ventures in New York City and Manhattan. Mrs. Hoffman frequently corresponded with and about the Roosevelt family. Materials included are legal documents, financial papers, farm records, newspaper clippings, letters, and blueprints. |

Biographical note | Alice Green Hoffman was the the aunt of Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. Mrs. Hoffman was a resident of Paris, France; of New York where she was involved in real estate; and of Carteret County, North Carolina, where she was involved in developing a dairy cattle herd and other agricultural interests on Bogue Banks. |
