| Abstract |
An entomologist is tricked by villagers into spending the night in a shack in a sandpit with a widow whose task is endlessly to haul away sand. He finds he cannot escape and gradually develops an intense bond with his companion and resigns himself to a lifetime of hypnotic routine. |
