General note | "Abraham Weatherwise" is a common pseudonym in almanacs. |
General note | Apparently calculated by Benjamin Fry of Maine, whose almanacs for 1796-1798 were calculated for the meridian of Portsmouth and published there by Charles Peirce. The astronomical notes on the calendar pages of Weatherwise correspond with Fry's for the same year except for being fewer in number. The calculations for the moon are identical with Fry's from March onward. The rest of the calculations in the two almanacs are so slightly at variance as to appear by the same author for neighboring meridians. They coincide more closely through successive months, until for November and December they become entirely identical. |
