This book is a general, all-around guide to the world of movie soundtracks. It's divided into three parts: a history of the field from its beginnings to the complex international business it has become; an overview of many of the composers who have written music for movies over the years, each with a biographical sketch and a discussion of their best work as made available on long-playing records or compact discs; and a look at movie musicals and song-compilation scores that have been issued over the years, many of them still available today. |
