Subject(s)
Abstract Elena lives with her family in Puerto Rico where she eats mangoes from a tree in their yard and listens to the "coqui, coqui" sounds from the frogs in the branches. When a hurricane approaches, the family takes shelter in their home while the wind batters the island. Emerging from the aftermath, the family sees their tree has been stripped and the frogs silent. Elena and her family slowly repair their home and help others in their neighborhood recover, and soon the mango tree blooms once again and the frogs' "coqui, coqui" returns.
