General noteThis volume contains two large-scale choral works by Elgar. The Black Knight, Op. 25 was composed in 1892 on a text by Ludwig Uhland, translated by Henry Longfellow. The Banner of St George, Op. 33 was composed for the celebration of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897 on a text by Shapcott Wensley.
