Abstract |
Author E. Lynn Harris was born on June 20, 1955 in Flint, Michigan. Harris attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and graduated with honors with a degree in journalism. After earning his degree, Harris started his thirteen-year career as a computer sales executive. In 1991, he left his job to write his first novel Invisible Life. His second novel, Just As I Am, made Harris the first male writer to have a number one hardcover book on the Blackboard list. Harris wrote five novels that appeared on the New York Times Bestseller list. Six of his novels sold more than one million copies. Harris' novels weave tales with candid portrayals of the pains and passions of middle class professional African Americans. His works broke down taboos about black sexuality and lifestyles of gay and bisexual men. Harris passed away on July 23, 2009 at age of 54. |
