Abstract While simple folksongs have always been sung, the lyric art-song, in which the piano plays as large a part as the vocal melody, is practically a product of the nineteenth century. This book presents 50 of the finest songs of this period with complete vocals and accompaniments, original words, and English translations. Unabridged, unaltered republication of original (1903) edition. Includes biographical introduction.
General noteWith piano accompaniment.
