A declaration and ordinance of the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, : for new loans, and contributions, as well from the united Provinces of Holland, as from England and Wales, for the speedy relief of the miserable and distressed estate of the Protestants in the Kingdom of Ireland; whose lives are dayly sacrificed, not only to the malice of their and our bloudy enemies (the popish rebels) but likewise to starving, cold, and hunger. Die lunæ, 30 Januar. 1642. It is this day ordered by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, that this ordinance be forthwith published in print, and that all parsons, vicars, and curates, in the Kingdom of England, and Dominion of Wales, be required to read this ordinance in their severall churches and chappels respectively the next Lords day after the receiving of said ordinance: And they are likewise required to stirre up the people to a large and free benevolence, to our poor brethren in Ireland, according as it is expressed in this ordinance.
