Abstract An anthology reader for non-music major undergraduate students. It differs from typical texts in this area, many of which focus primarily on the canon of Western European art music. In contrast, this book introduces students to musical traditions around the world and places these in historical, social, and cultural context through primary source readings on the meaning of music.
