Biographical noteArthur G. McIntyre was a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy (Class of 1941) who was captured as a prisoner of war during World War II after his submarine, the USS GRENADIER (SS 210), was sunk by Japanese planes in the Malacca Straits. McIntyre spent the rest of the war in Japanese prisoner of war camps, 1943-45; after medical treatment he continued in the service rising to command the USS LIONFISH (SS-298) and retiring in 1959 with the rank of commander.
