This video offers a rare opportunity: Learn how to use a powerful technique for treating PTSD by watching an actual therapy session in the middle of a long-term course of treatment.Traumatic memories invade the consciousness of those who suffer from PTSD, presenting a profound challenge for both the survivor and therapist. In this video, Ochberg explains and models his Counting Method, a simple yet effective tool used to master the flashbacks and intrusive recollections so common in PTSD.During this extraordinary session, Ochberg works with a client with PTSD who is midway through a long-term, outpatient therapy. You'll see Ochberg explain the Counting Method to her, guide and anchor her through the recollection of a traumatic event, and then discuss and debrief the experience with her.
