The collection contains financial records related to daily business transactions of the organization from 1891-1908. These records include six volumes of financial journals and cashbooks indicating incoming and outgoing funds from the organization's bank accounts. Also mentioned in the volumes are loan payments, employees and the president of the branch, Edgar W. Smith. |

Biographical note | In December 1901, The Imperial Tobacco Company (Great Britain and Ireland) Limited was formed by 13 family-run businesses, led by Wills, Players and Lambert & Butler. The companies continued to trade under their own names and retained responsibility for their own manufacturing and selling. From 1960 Imperial aimed towards diversification and away from its focus on tobacco, acquiring food services and brands. |
