Collection contains correspondence, memorandums, orders, and military publications primarily concerned with training during World War I. Miscellaneous materials include photographic identification cards of Kennon and his wife, directory of University of Virginia alumni serving in World War I in Europe, list of field equipment needed by officers overseas, and a memorandum book. |

Biographical note | Major Beverley R. Kennon, a member of the United States Army Medical Reserve Corps, worked in the fields of ophthalmology and otolaryngology during World War I. Kennon received an M.D. from the University of Virginia in 1893 and was commissioned in 1917. He served at several posts, including Camp Lee, Petersburg, Va; and Camp Hancock, Augusta, Ga. Beginning in October 1918, he was stationed at the Justice Hospital Group in Toul, France. |
