Scope and content |
The bulk of the correspondence revolves around School Food Service reviews of school lunch programs in Reid's eighteen-county northeastern district. Reports attached to letters deal with the numbers participating in school lunch and special milk programs, quality of meals, filing and record-keeping procedures, prices, personnel, and program requirements. Of particular interest are materials regarding school cafeterias in Pitt and Pender counties. School Food Service training materials comprise a significant portion of the collection. Other materials include statistical information, monthly itineraries, annual reports, reports about federally subsidized food programs, free and reduced lunch policies, materials regarding the Child Nutrition Act of 1966, and a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) school lunch training guide that includes the objectives of the National School Lunch Program and information regarding planning Type A lunches. |
