Abstract |
The collection consists primarily of deeds (indentures) covering lands purchased by the Moore family in Pitt County, N.C. The land lying adjacent to Swift Creek, south of the Tar River, was part of an original patent granted to John Causey in March 1775. The deeds cover sales and purchases of land from May 1795 through May 1829. Accompanying these documents are surveyors' descriptions and plats of the lands of Churchwell Moore. Of interest is a land sale receipt to Churchwell Moore from the Treasury office of North Carolina, dated 1855. |
