| Abstract | Emergency Management Techniques for the Spine-Injured Athlete provides an overview of where the field of sports medicine is currently with regard to emergency management of spine-injured athletes, as opposed to where it was, and where it should be going in the future. The video discusses current thinking concerning face mask removal and retraction, packaging the spine-injured athlete for transportation, and the removal of athletic protection equipment. The video also looks at common techniques for airway management, as well as details the efforts being undertaken by the National Emergency X-Radiography Utilization Study Group.
