Abstract This programme aims to help remove some of the barriers to effective teaching of CADCAM. The subject is of growing importance as the British textile industry stages a revival, fuelled by increasing demand for digitally printed fabrics. But, as the QCA has identified, CADCAM teaching is weak in some schools. Ann Crawshaw, head of the D+T department at Feversham College in Bradford, is a leading light in the area and she passes on her valuable experience in how to engage pupils with imaginative lessons, how to access funding and crucially how to get members of your senior management team to sign up to investment in the equipment and software that makes effective teaching of the subject possible. In addition, one of Britain's leading digital printing companies shares its view on the value of CADCAM at GCSE and how some of Ann's techniques and teaching would be of direct relevance to the industry, and valuable for employers.
