Abstract | Dai Ailian discusses the initial difficulties she encountered in introducing Labanotation to China, and its subsequent acceptance and usage by a wide spectrum of theatrical performers, folk dancers and gymnasts. She recalls her early training in England with Anton Dolin, Marie Rambert, Margaret Craske, and the Jooss-Leeder School, where she first studied Labanotation. She also comments upon the state of dance in China. |
