Abstract | Harland Duncan, sheriff of a small mountain town in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, all of a sudden has two major crimes to solve. The first crime involves the unauthorized burial of a newborn baby in an old cemetery that is connected to the building of the Great Fontana Dam and the second is the disappearance of Emily Davis, a young school teacher. She's late for a dinner, but no one is worried until after several hours her car is found, abandoned, with the driver's side door open wide and her belongings scattered along the car floor. |
