Abstract William R. Miller, PhD, the originator of Motivational Interviewing, is Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico and Director of Research for UNM's Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse & Addictions. Dr. Miller has published 25 books and more than 200 articles and chapters on the treatment of alcoholism and other addictive behaviors.This video includes an interview with Dr. Miller by Randall C. Wyatt, discussing aspects of Motivational Interviewing, and a demonstrative session. The client, an elderly woman, has been experiencing depression and anxiety over how she will manage her responsibilities to her family as the end of her life draws near. She wants to learn to let go and live the remaining years of her life without constant work and worry.
