General note | Evans attributes the present almanac to Benjamin West, as he does most of those issued under the Bickerstaff pseudonym. However, the almanac is identical in contents and typography with An astronomical diary or Almanack for 1798 by Seth Chandler (Boston : J. Bumstead), except for the title page and the substitution of other material for Chandler's preface. |
General note | Weatherwise's genuine almanack for 1798, also issued at Boston by Russell, and Weatherwise's almanack for 1798, published at Boston by Bumstead and several other booksellers, are other anonymous reprints of Chandler identical with the present one. |
General note | The publisher is presumably Benjamin Russell, who uses the phrase "Printed at Russell's office" in the imprint of his 1797 edition of "Copy of a letter written by our blessed saviour Jesus Christ." -. |
General note | Reproduction of original from Boston Public Library. |
