Collection consists of two letters to Emily Watson. The first is a letter from a Union soldier, Cyrus A. Powers, on board the ship Dancer in the Pamlico Sound, North Caroina, describing preparations for an attack on Roanoke Island (1 February 1862). The second is from Mary and describes Powers's severe wounding in the battle and the family's efforts to bring him home (28 March 1862). |
