Subject(s)
Abstract A southern soldier who regrouped to the north after the Geneva Accords had been signed, Major Duong Sang recalls his decision to return to the south and fight. Using forged documents, Duong Long Sang was able to travel freely around the south without the fear of being captured as well as relying on strangers who supported the revolution for food and shelter. He discusses the largest American search and destroy mission that took place on January 8, 1966 during which guerilla tactics were used and an intricate series of underground tunnels were in operation in order to fight the enemy. Major Duong Sang illustrates the various ways in which his troops were able to infiltrate enemy bases as well as moving around Saigon.
