Abstract | Nguyen Van [full name unknown] was the political commissioner in charge of Hue during the Tet Offensive in 1968. He describes the execution of his plan, which involved - in his own estimation - up to 50,000 fighters on his side between trained soldiers and sympathetic civilians willing to take up arms. He explains that the attack was initially directed at thirty separate targets and lasted twenty-five days. Although American and South Vietnamese forces were able to retake the city, he claims the battle was a success due to the amount of damage they were able to inflict. |
