Abstract |
Collection includes photocopies of personal correspondence, a teacher's certificate, and a register. Correspondence consists of two personal letters from Smith to his brother (1853) and to his daughter (1855). A Common School Teacher's Certificate issued to Smith for Edgecombe County (1854) and an N.C. Public School Register for Duplin County Schools (1882-1896) are also in the collection. The Register contains names of teachers, salaries received, textbooks used, pupil attendance, and grading procedures. |
