Abstract This book presents a process for conducting music therapy eligibility assessments in special education. The process allows each therapist to utilize his or her individual therapeutic methodology while providing a clear, convincing rationale for the inclusion of music therapy in a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). It centers around making a comparison of a student's ability to perform IEP-targeted skills with and without the structure of music therapy strategies. This process is SEMTAP: the Special Education Music Therapy Assessment Process.
