Abstract |
R & B singer, songwriter, and gospel singer BeBe Winans was born Benjamin Winans on September 17, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a Grammy Award Winning Gospel and R&B singer and member of the noted Winans family. The seventh of ten children, Winans began his career as a background singer for his famous brothers, The Winans, before teaming up with sister CeCe Winans in 1987. He recorded songs with such entertainers as Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight and Whitney Houston. As an R&B and Gospel vocalist, writer, and producer, Winans won four Grammy Awards, ten Dove Awards, six Stellar Awards, two NAACP Awards, and a Soul Train Award. A multi-faceted artist, he not only had a successful recording career, but also launched a syndicated radio show and returned to acting in both film and theater. In 2008 and after fifteen years, BeBe and CeCe Winans planned the release of a reunion album, Still. |
