Local noteJoyner Rare copy does not include plates and is missing blank leaf conjugate with the title page. Title page has slight damage to the top of "R" of "Maronis" and to the bottom of the "B" of "Baskerville. Includes all of the 'usual' cancels, plus cancel of S4. Point missing at pp. 225 and 350. Page 208, the letters 'Dd' of the signature are separated by a wide space. Armorial bookplate with motto "Coeur fidelle" of William Finch Palmer on front pastedown. Baskerville's Publii Virgilii Maronis Bucolica, Georgica et Æneis, first edition, includes the first use of wove paper in history.

General noteTitle page is found in two very similar states. In one the "M" of "MDCCLVII" is slightly damaged at the top of the left-hand upright; in the other there is slight damage to the top of "R" of "Maronis" and to the bottom of the "B" of "Baskerville." Cf. Gaskell.
