Summary |
The purpose of this study is to determine the uses of local area networks in North Carolina Public Schools. The determination of the uses will be drawn from a state-wide survey of local area networks in 134 local education districts. The survey results are compared to the uses of local area networks nation-wide through selected readings. This study will determine if North Carolina is following the same trends in the uses of local area networks as indicated in the readings of other local area networks throughout the nation. The kinds, sizes, and current users of local area networks will be examined. Emerging uses of the networks will be determined as a result of the study. Indicators developed as a result of this study may be used by decision-makers and educators who are planning for local area networks and are looking for cost-effective ways to integrate technology into the curriculum, survey results may also be useful in developing technology plans for the local education agency. |
