General note	The French original (Mémoire contenant le précis des falts [etc.]) was published at Paris by the French government in 1756 as a justification of the war with England. In it were included documents captured from the British at Fort Necessity and at Braddock's defeat.

General note	"A letter written by Colonel Napier, and sent to General Braddock, by order of the Duke of Cumberland [dated London, Nov. 25, 1754]": p. 202-209. It was this letter which called forth the ironical defence of the Duke of Cumberland, published at London in 1756 under the title: Reasons humbly offered, to prove, that the letter printed at the end of the French Memorial of justificatio, is a French forgery and falsely ascribed to His. R--l H--ss.
