General note | "A letter written by Colonel Napier, and sent to General Braddock, by order of the Duke of Cumberland [dated London, Nov. 25, 1754]": p. 202-209. It was this letter which called forth the ironical defence of the Duke of Cumberland, published at London in 1756 under the title: Reasons humbly offered, to prove, that the letter printed at the end of the French Memorial of justificatio, is a French forgery and falsely ascribed to His. R--l H--ss. |
