Abstract |
Demonstrating the progressive reduction in bone density and resulting atrophy, which typify this condition associated most ofter with post menopausal women, this series consists of three medically sectioned lumbar vertebrae and their intervertebral discs. The topmost vertebra in the series exhibits normal healthy bone structure. The middle vertebra reflects the increased porosity and loss of bone mass characterizing the osteoporosis condition. Typifying advanced osteoporosis, the bottom vertebra manifests deterioration deformation, flattened plates and greatly reduced bone density. |
